Richard D Jones
Editor
Richard D Jones joined the Regular Army as a junior soldier in the 1960s. Enlisting initially in the Royal Artillery, he later became personally and professionally involved with small-calibre weapons and ammunition. After completing Regular Army service in 1994, he joined the UK Ministry of Defence Pattern Room, sometimes known as the Enfield Collection - arguably the world's most comprehensive Working Reference collection of small arms, spanning the years 1850 to the present time. Formerly the Custodian and Head of Unit until the transfer of the collection to the Royal Armouries in September 2005, Richard continues to provide a similar service to his former customers at the newly created National Firearms Centre at Leeds, in the north of England. Richard is married, has two grown-up children and lives in Nottingham. His hobbies include participation in all forms of shooting, travel (continuing an aspect of his former life) and reading, primarily non-fiction, for relaxation. Richard became Editor of Jane’s Infantry Weapons in 2004.
